Work permit
There are many different types of work permits.
To apply for a VITEM V (Work Visa), it requires to start the process in Brazil by the company or institution willing to hire you or the applicant. It must file a petition for temporary residency authorization at the Ministry of Justice and Public Security. Only after the authorization is granted, the applicant will be able to apply for a Work Visa at the Consulate in their jurisdiction or if it is in Brazil, they must register the new status at the Federal Police.
The only exception that does not require to start the process in Brazil is for media correspondents, journalists, photojournalists, photographers, members of press, radio or television organizations.
The VITEM V (Work Visa) may be extended to the family members as a family reunion visa.
