Visitor visa (VIVIS):
Depending on your nationality, will be necessary to get a visitor visa.
For a complete list of countries that are waived from obtaining a visitor visa for the following purposes, click here. Citizens of other nationalities, might need a Visitor’s Visa (VIVIS) for the following activities:
a) tourist trips to Brazil, including visits to relatives or friends.
b) unpaid participation in athletic competitions or artistic events.
c) unpaid participation in scientific/academic seminars or conferences sponsored by research or academic institution.
d) business trips, including participation in a trade/industrial exhibition.
e) transit.
f) applicants to refugee status.
g) adoption of a Brazilian child; and
h) the following purposes, provided that the stay does not exceed 90 days:
h.1) flight/ship crew members without an international crew card, except if working on a ship operating along the Brazilian coast or inland waters (in which case a Vitem V is mandatory).
h.2) scientific, technological research under an international technical cooperation program.
h.3) professorial studies/research/teaching/academic internship and/or scientific/technological activities at a university, research institution or similar organization.
h.4) exchange student program.
h.5) technical learning in the operation and/or maintenance of machinery or equipment produced in Brazil.
h.6) paid participation in athletic or performing arts events.
h.7) provision of voluntary services to a religious or social assistance entity.
h.8) health treatment; and
h.9) media coverage or filmmaking.
