JORNALISTS
Journalists, (newspaper, magazine, radio, television or agency correspondents), have to request a temporary visa in order to legally perform their activities in Brazil. With this type of visa, the term for staying in the country will depend on the duration of the contract or the services provision, which must be proved at the Consulate.
The maximum period for staying in Brazil on a temporary visa, is Up to two years, with the possibility to extend.
Objective: To exercise remunerated employment activities at a legal entity established in Brazil but receiving a salary abroad.
Type of permit: Individual
There are two different application procedures to be followed:
(a) An application, which takes place in Brazil and without the assistance of the consulate, and
(b) An application, which takes place at the Brazilian Consulate of the applicant or Federal Police, only after obtaining the work permit.
Processing time: up to 30-45 business days + 8 business days to publish the decision in the Federal Official Gazette.
Type of visa: Temporary.
