FOREIGN ARTIST OR SPORTS PERSON
This residence authorization for work purposes, without an employment relationship in Brazil, involves engaging in artistic (e.g. Models, DJ, etc) or sports activities with a fixed-term contract, with an individual or legal entity based in the country, for a stay exceeding 90 days. Applicable for stays exceeding 90 days, it encompasses a wide range of artistic activities such as performances, shows, exhibitions, modeling assignments, and DJ events.
There are two different application procedures to be followed:
(a) An application, which takes place in Brazil and without the assistance of the consulate, and
(b) An application, which takes place at the Brazilian Consulate of the applicant or Federal Police, only after obtaining the work permit.
Type of visa: Temporary.
Type of permit: Individual or collective.
Applicant: Legal entity established in Brazil. The company/institution in Brazil interested in the arrival of the immigrant should request “Prior Residence” for the foreigner currently abroad.
Validity of visa: Up to 01 (one) year.
The visa is suitable for those planning a stay in Brazil exceeding 90 days. This caters to both short-term projects and longer engagements.
Objective: To allow artists or sports persons to enter Brazil to participate in specific and determined events provided they do not have any employment link to any individual or legal entity located in Brazil.
The concessions also include the entertainment technicians and other professionals that participate as assistants to the activities of the artist(s) or sports person(s).
The concessions do not apply to foreign artists or sports persons that enter Brazil with an employment contract with a Brazilian company. That will be the regular Work Permit.
They do not either apply to participants in sports competitions and artistic contest that do not receive any remuneration or “cachet” paid by a Brazilian source, even if they may receive prizes, including cash. Cases that fall under this category can request a tourist visa directly to the Brazilian consular representation abroad.
